Chairman's Chatterings
Chairman's Chatterings - November 2011
20/11/11
As I write this in mid-Nov. the season is well underway with the first of the new open league competitions having taken place along with the Imagination, Best of the rest, Natural history & Tranquillity comps, we have also enjoyed three excellent lectures so far & with the running of the Ross cup done & dusted we can look forward to the run up to Christmas with plenty more to look forward to & enjoy. For myself I will be starting to put together the 2012/13 program so if you have any ideas that you would like to put forward let me know as soon as possible.
Mention should be made of the clubs running of this years Ross Cup, it seems a long time ago now that the KCPA President asked me if we might take this on, I approached our external comp. sec George who was keen & all was agreed, this type of involvement helps Invicta maintain it's standing within the KCPA & should always help the club financially (assuming all goes well).Once I had secured the Judge much of the work before the event was undertaken by George & Kathie, thanks must go to them for many hours of behind the scene's work & also a special mention of Invicta member Phil Ravenshear who through his company Rave Creative did us proud with a marvelous catalogue.
Thanks must also go to those members who turned up to help out when needed on the day 'but where were the rest of you ?'
Let me remind you all that Aperture our in house news letter & the new & vastly improved web-site are there for the use & enjoyment of all members, please use them.
Do you have a new piece of equipment you are trying out, a new technique in camera or computer, share it with others, articles are always needed, if you have photographic equipment you wish to sell, do it through these mediums, have you got some ideas to share, do you need help with anything, let us know, it here for you & it's free, what more can you say !
I hope you are all enjoying the speed at which the competition results are distributed via e-mail & are put on the web-site for down loading, communications have never been better, the latest information can now be had by members quicker than ever before.
By the time you read this the annual trip to the South Bank to see the 'Landscape of the year' exhibition will be getting ever closer (Wed. 7th Dec.) if you wish to join us let me know as soon as you can.
Events such as the Clubs Christmas Social evening rely very much on YOU getting involved, please help out when requested, this is a social event & members are encouraged to bring family & friends along but we must all pull together for it to work well, have you any ideas for the evening, what can you bring to the table ?
This year for the first time Invicta are having a presence at the Detling Christmas fair on Sat. 3rd Dec. Doors open to the public at 1pm do come along to see us & join in the festivities.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas & a happy new year.
Glyn.
