The Chatterings of Your Chairman
.
The new season is here, Thursday evenings in the Main Hall, not Wednesdays in the committee room, new chairman, new faces on the committee, new members . . . . . new challenges. Born from the efforts, dedication, photographic skills and achievements of previous committees and members, who form the backbone of our club, all very much appreciated by everyone connected with Invicta.

Our growing membership necessitated the move to the main hall, this will bring with it increased costs that will be offset by our increasing membership and give us better facilities and more confidence when booking speakers and judges.

Early summer saw us involved with the village community at Burham, where George and Glyn, on our behalf, facilitated photographic training, encouragement and support that culminated in a weekend art and photographic exhibition in the local community centre. Other members helped out and this has led to new members being recruited to our ranks. Thanks to all concerned

On the subject of recruitment Bill has worked incredibly well as Membership secretary contacting potential, current and previous members on our behalf for the coming season as well as continuing to work on the training plans he has initiated.

A few summer outings were arranged and attended by appreciative members, Brands Hatch being the best attended, while the treasure hunt at Bearsted was enjoyed as a light hearted social event, Thanks to Glyn for those two events.

We held three committee meetings through the summer to ensure we are well placed to start the year on a good footing. Not only have we got to meet the challenges already mentioned but also we have been nominated to represent the K.C.P.A. at Connah’s Quay, Wales that is, in the P.A.G.B. Print Competition on the 23rd October. George, our External Competition Secretary, has this in hand and if you are not aware of the details I’m sure you soon will be..

Mike has been busy updating the website. Should you happen to notice any discrepancies, drop him a polite line, he’ll only be too pleased to correct things. This is our window to the world, and not just open to Invicta’s members, so send him some images for the gallery, there’s a world wide audience waiting to appreciate your work. However, don’t forget that if you intend using such images for our competitions don’t put them in the gallery beforehand.

It all seems very upbeat for the coming season, but it is my sad duty to pay tribute to Mike Blake, who I always found to be a happy and helpful member of our club and whose passing will leave a gap. As I said in my opening we are moving forward at Invicta because of the efforts of those that form the backbone of our club, Mike was one of those.

Well, that’s all my chatterings for now.
